Probably the most varied and unusual Personal Assistant role we have handled in some time. Our client is a Norfolk based author, speaker, conference facilitator and consultant with a predisposition to playing Mahler rather loudly in his office while working! He is also in the process of setting up a small publishing business, so some knowledge of/interest in the book trade would be helpful.
The Personal Assistant responsibilities will include the usual Diary/admin/travel arrangements and some project admin, particularly around consultancy work and some of his journalist assignments. Our client also operates two websites, so knowledge of managing content on sites will be needed from someone who will be pretty IT savvy.
Our client also wants to be more proactive in seeking work as a speaker and that means his Personal Assistant will spend time researching what’s planned and then making organisers aware of what he can do. Not the hard sell, but more building and maintaining relationships and negotiating fees.
This Personal Assistant role will be based around a flexible 30hrs per week and for this there will be a salary of £18-20,000 per annum. There will be the chance to augment this salary with a bonus/commission scheme in place to recognise success in “selling him” as a speaker.
Our client is looking for someone who is interested in a long term role and is used to working alone. The role definitely won’t suite someone who is a from a large corporate background. Applications can only be considered from people with very specific Personal Assistant experience in a similar environment who will be able to manage and deal with our client’s self confessed “occasional bad moods” and understand that they are working in his home as well as his office.
